Kingman Area Robotics Initiative Receives ARPA Funding From Chairman Of The Board, Travis Lingenfelter, To Empower STEM Education

The Kingman Area Robotics application for the 2025 season officially begins today and ends on October 30, 2025. Mohave County Community Services department received ARPA funds from District 1 Board of Supervisor, Travis Lingenfelter, which are being used toward the Robotics Initiative to provide financial support for local high school students, robotics teams, and clubs.

This program is designed to inspire and empower local high school students through hands-on experience in robotics, engineering, and technology. Funding aims to strengthen STEM learning opportunities and prepare youth for future careers in science and technology-driven industries.

FUNDING & APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Each application must be submitted by a team coach, school representative, or designated adult on behalf of the student club, group, or team. Individual students may not apply on their own without a representative/legal guardian.

Applicants are required to provide an itemized breakdown of their requested funds. Allowable costs include robot materials and the supplies necessary for building and programming, competition registration fees, and travel expenses directly related to attending robotics competitions. Funds may not be used for non-project related costs such as food, personal items, or equipment unrelated to robotics activities.

  • Per Student Cap: $250 – $500
  • Per Team Cap: $1,000 – $10,000

Mohave County aims to guarantee that each dollar directly benefits youth learning and engagement in robotics, by ensuring funds are directed toward materials, competitions, and training, not overhead or unrelated costs.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Applicants are to provide a clear description of their project, along with an itemized breakdown of the funding request, a description of the target population projects will serve, along with an estimate of the number of youths that will benefit from the funds awarded.

APPLICATION ASSISTANCE

To assist with the application process, the Community Services department is holding an informational Q&A session on October 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mohave County Administration Building in the Saguaro conference room located at 700 W. Beale St., Kingman, AZ 86401.

Mohave County Administration has long been committed to expanding educational access and fostering innovation within its communities. The Robotics Funding Program directly supports high school teams, clubs, and organizations developing robotics projects for local, regional, and national competitions.

In recent years, Mohave County has seen strong growth in local STEM engagement through programs such as the FIRST Robotics competitions, led in part by the Kingman Robotics Team 60. This new round of funding will help further expand those opportunities, inspiring more students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math.
