Mohave County Airport Authority Deadline Passes Without Response - Mohave County Poised to Proceed with Next Steps

The Mohave County Airport Authority (MCAA) failed to respond by the August 27th deadline to Mohave County’s required August 7, 2026, statutory offer for the Authority’s leasehold interests and related airport assets at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport. With no response received, the County is now poised to initiate the legal lease condemnation process to bring ownership, operational oversight, and public accountability and transparency into alignment.

The County’s immediate focus under County Interim Airport Director Ed Faron, A.A.E., will include establishing a complete and verified picture of the airport’s finances, operating revenues and expenses, available cash, outstanding liabilities, contractual obligations, current capital projects, deferred maintenance and future investment requirements. Throughout the short-, medium- and long-term transition, Mohave County’s team will work closely with the Federal Aviation Administration, the City of Bullhead City, airport tenants and users, and regional stakeholders on both sides of the Colorado River.

The County’s objective is an efficient, orderly, and transparent transition process leading to a financially sustainable airport that supports regional aviation, commerce, economic growth, and tourism.
