Mohave County Board Of Adjustments

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 11-816
  • Membership: Five Member Board. The Board of Adjustment is composed of one member who is a resident of each supervisorial district or one board of adjustment in each supervisorial district that has jurisdiction in that supervisorial district and that is composed of not less than three nor more than five members, each of whom is a resident of that supervisorial district. 
  • The jurisdiction of the Board of Adjustment shall be throughout the unincorporated portions of Mohave County. The authority of said Board shall extend only to the interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance and to the granting of variances. 
  • Term: 4 years

Mohave County Board Of Health

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 36-183
  • Membership: The Board of Health consists of eleven members: one member from the Board of Supervisors, one physician licensed under Arizona Revised Statutes Title 32, Chapter 13 or 17, and five citizen members with an interest in public health, each representing a different supervisorial district within the county. Additionally, four citizen members are appointed from the county at large. The Director of the Mohave County Department of Public Health serves as a non-voting, ex-officio member
  • The Mohave County Department of Public Health's mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health of our communities. The Board of Health plays a vital advisory role, performing critical duties related to the department's mission. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of the Community Health Assessment, Community Health Improvement Plan, and Strategic Plan. Department leadership and staff regularly engage the Board to share opportunities and challenges, seeking their participation in planning and promoting activities that enhance health throughout the county. When appropriate, the Board may also advocate for public health issues within the community and with legislative bodies.

Correction Officer Retirement Board

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 11-816
  • Membership: Five Member Board. One Member is the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, or a designee of the Chairman, who is approved by the Board of Supervisors; two members are elected by secret ballot by members employed by the participating county in a designated position; and two citizens, one of whom shall head of the merit system.

Extension Advisory Board

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 3-124
  • Membership: Seven Member Board. Seven public members, four of whom have as their principal business the production of agricultural commodities. The other three members must be representatives of organizations or persons who use the County Agricultural Extension Services.
  • Provides input and sets priorities for educational programs and strategic directions for the faculty and staff of the County Cooperative Extension. Also, approve the annual budget for the Extension and advocate for Cooperative Extension in their communities

Library Citizens Advisory Board

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 11-901, 48-3901, 48-3902, 48-3903, 48-3904, and 48-3905
  • Membership: Ten Member Board. Membership of the Advisory Committee is composed of two members appointed by each of the Board of Supervisors, two for each supervisorial district, to serve the term of each Supervisor.
  • The Citizens Advisory Committee was established to recommend, support, and advise the Library Board of Directors on all matters pertaining to the operation and development of Mohave County Library District, through the Library Director.

Overview:

  • Membership: Five Member Board. The Authority shall be governed by a five member Board of Commissioners, which shall consist of the three members of the Board of Supervisors and the two additional members, one of whom shall be a tenant member, all appointed and serving their respective four-year terms in accordance with Mohave County Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 2004-110.

Public Lands and Recreation Commission

Overview:

  • Membership: Five Member Board. One member appointed by each supervisorial district.
  • The Mohave County Public Lands and Recreation Commission shall function as an advisory organization for the Board of Supervisors regarding the United States Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Travel Management Plan and the planning, installation, use, promotion, and regulation of renewable energy projects on public lands within Mohave County. The PLRC meets on the first Thursday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the Board Auditorium.

Self Insurance Retention & Employee Benefit Trust

Overview:

  • Authority: A.R.S. 11-981
  • Membership: The County Board of Supervisors shall appoint seven Trustees to oversee the management and affairs of the Trust. The Trustees shall be comprised of residents of the County, not more than one Trustee may be an employee of Mohave County or the Mohave County Judicial Branch, not more than one may be a member of the Board of Supervisors. The County Manager or County Administrator shall always serve as one of the seven Trustees. Each supervisorial district of Mohave County shall be allotted one Trustee appointment, with the Trustee to be nominated by the Supervisor currently holding office in that district and subject to ratification by the County Board of Supervisors via majority vote. 
  • The Employee Benefit Program shall be operated and administered by the Board of Trustees for the benefit of the Beneficiaries. In carrying out the purposes of the Trust Agreement, the Trustees shall have all right, power and authority to: (a) enter into contracts, procure insurance policies, or provide such benefits through self-funding, and to place into effect and maintain the desired schedule of benefits. (b) provide the intended benefits under this Trust by means of self-funding by the Trust and/or by the procurement of group insurance contracts (as permitted by the laws of the State of Arizona) including group insurance contracts issued to and in the name of the Trust, together with such other forms of contracts issued by qualified insurance companies authorized to do business in the State of Arizona as may be selected by the Trustees for the purpose of providing for all or part of the benefits provided for under this Trust. The Trustees are hereby expressly authorized to pay to any insurance company as may be selected by the Trustees, the required insurance premiums in connection with such group insurance contracts issued to the Trust. Whether or not benefits are provided by means of self-funding or by the procurement of group insurance, such decision shall be at the sole and exclusive discretion of the Trustees. (c) should the Trustees select or provide for any policy or program of self-funding, no claims for benefits or claims for liabilities shall be brought against the Trustees. The sole and exclusive liability of said Trustees in the management and operation of any program of self-funding shall be limited to due care in the selection of administrators, claims representatives, actuaries or other officials charged with the administration of such a program of self-funding, subject to the limitations upon such liability based on actions taken with advice of counsel as provided in Section 4.03 of this Agreement. In the event that submitted claims of employees exceed the funds available, the claims shall be paid in the order received. (d) do all those things which, in the opinion of the Trustees, may be necessary or desirable for the administration, operation of, and accomplishment of the objectives and purposes of the Fund and this Trust and Trust Agreement. 
  • Term: Following appointment, Trustees shall serve until such time as they resign, cease to be eligible to serve as a Trustee or are removed or replaced by the County Board of Supervisors. In the event that a Trustee resigns, ceases to be eligible to serve as a Trustee or is removed or replaced by the County, the position shall be deemed vacant and a new Trustee shall be designated by the County and appointed as specified in this Agreement. Trustees are permitted to continue service after their nominating Supervisor is no longer in office, but the Trustee’s term of office may be terminated and replaced with a new Trustee by the newly appointed or elected Supervisor and a majority vote of the County Board of Supervisors.
