Emergency Preparedness

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program helps Mohave County prepare for and respond to health emergencies.

Our goal is to protect the health and safety of residents and visitors by:

  • Planning ahead for emergencies
  • Working with community partners
  • Reducing risks before they happen
  • Sharing clear, timely information

We focus on building strong systems, so our community is ready before an emergency happens.

WHAT WE DO

Our Emergency Response Team prepares for a wide range of public health emergencies and supports response efforts across the county.

This includes:

  • Disease outbreaks and pandemics
  • Extreme heat and weather-related health risks
  • Chemical, biological, or radiological exposures
  • Other public health emergencies that may impact the community

We:

  • Develop and update emergency response plans
  • Train staff and partners
  • Conduct exercises to test readiness
  • Identify risks and take steps to reduce impacts before emergencies occur
  • Support response and recovery efforts during emergencies

WORKING TOGETHER TO KEEP MOHAVE COUNTY SAFE

Emergency preparedness is a shared effort. We work closely with:

  • Hospitals and healthcare providers
  • Emergency management and public safety agencies
  • Tribal partners
  • Community organizations
  • State and federal partners

By planning and training together, we improve how we respond before, during, and after emergencies.
