Behavioral Health Team

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Behavioral Health Team works to support mental wellness, reduce stigma, and promote prevention-focused strategies across Mohave County. Mental health challenges affect individuals, families, schools, workplaces, and public safety, especially in rural and geographically isolated communities.

With suicide rates higher than the national average* and many youth and adults experiencing mental health challenges, the program focuses on education, early intervention, and community-based prevention efforts that help people build skills, recognize warning signs, and know where to seek help.

WHAT WE DO

We work with our community to promote mental wellness, prevent suicide, and connect residents to support.

Our services include:

  • Suicide prevention education and training
  • Mental health awareness and stigma-reduction efforts
  • Skills-based workshops focused on coping, communication, and resilience.
  • Community outreach and prevention education
  • Data-informed review processes to improve prevention strategies.
  • Collaboration with schools, service providers, and community partners

START HERE: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCREENINGS & SUPPORT

By bringing screenings into rural communities, we help reduce transportation barriers and support early connection to care.

We offer quick screenings to help you understand how you’re feeling and connect to support if needed.
  • Depression screening (PHQ-9): Screens for symptoms of depression
  • Hopelessness screening (Beck’s Hopelessness Inventory): Helps assess suicide risk
  • Anxiety screening (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale): Screens for anxiety symptoms

These tools are used for early identification and are not a diagnosis.

Results help us:

  • Understand what you may be experiencing
  • Connect you to behavioral health services
  • Provide referrals to local resources
  • Offer crisis support if needed

WHAT TO EXPECT

Taking the first step can feel uncomfortable, that’s completely normal. Our goal is to make this process simple, respectful, and supportive.

  • Quick and easy (about 5–10 minutes)
  • Private and supportive setting
  • Led by trained, licensed staff who will walk you through the process

After the screening, we’ll review your results together, answer any questions, and talk through options for support if needed.

Participation is always voluntary and confidential.
