WHY HIV TESTING MATTERS

Early testing and treatment help protect both individual and community health. Many people living with HIV may not have symptoms right away, which is why testing remains important even when you feel healthy.

Knowing your status allows individuals to access treatment, prevention resources, and ongoing medical care as early as possible.

The risk of not testing is not knowing your status.

HIV PREVENTION

You can help reduce the risk of HIV by:

  • Getting tested regularly
  • Using condoms correctly every time you have sex
  • Not sharing needles or injection equipment
  • Learning your prevention options
  • Talking with a healthcare provider about PrEP if you may be at increased risk.

Some individuals may benefit from more frequent HIV testing, including those with higher risk factors.

Free condoms and HIV prevention education are available through the program.

LINKAGE TO CARE & SUPPORT

If needed, our team can:

  • Connect individuals to HIV treatment providers
  • Assist with referrals and ongoing care
  • Help reconnect individuals who have fallen out of care
  • Provide information on available community resources and support services

Individuals newly diagnosed with HIV will be connected to appropriate medical providers for follow-up care and treatment.
