Quail Run

Date Completed: March 2012
Cost: $516,000

The Quail Run subdivision is located north of E. Courtwright Rd. and west of S. Mountain View Road. Quail Run was originally platted in 1966 as River Run City. No drainage infrastructure was constructed at that time. The subdivision slopes very gently (0.3%) to the northeast.

In 2007 and 2008, microburst events delivered over 1.3 inches of rain within a two hour period and caused significant ponding within the subdivision. In the case of the 2007 event, several homes were damaged and water had to be pumped out of the low areas to relieve flooding. Similar storms impacted the area in 2009.

URS Corporation was contracted by Mohave County to study the area and suggest feasible alternatives to mitigate the flooding. A report detailing these findings was prepared and submitted in December 2008. The report recommended construction of two retention basins. Construction of these basins was completed in March 2012.

Additionally, the basin along Arditto Dr. was enlarged in the summer of 2012.
