WIC Online Education Classes
Mohave County WIC now offers a new way to complete Nutrition Education Appointments via online courses offered through Texas WIC! This new process gives families a way to complete their required appointment from their home at their own pace. The process is quick and easy to set up if this option is accepted:
• A link will be either text messaged or emailed to the participant with a link to Texas WIC’s website. This is typically sent out a week before the Last Day to Use date of benefits
• From there, scroll down until you find a “Click and Learn” class that is not streaming live and matches your family’s needs. For example: a breastfeeding education class cannot be used as Nutrition Education for a 3-year-old child.
• Once you find a suitable class, click on the class and choose to continue without signing up. You can complete the class without registering for an account with Texas WIC.
• Upon completion of the class, a certificate of completion will generate. Take a screenshot or picture of the certificate and send it to the technician that sent you the link. The WIC technician will upload your next set of benefits and schedule you for your next appointment.
Some things to be mindful of when considering this option:
• If you are missing any documentation, are due for a Mid-Certification or Certification, have an infant under 6 months of age, your primary language is not English or Spanish and/or are due for a Medium or High Risk appointment with the Dietitian, you will not be eligible to use this service.
• If there are multiple children in the same category, you can do one class for all of them. For example, if you have 2 children that are 3 years old, you can complete one class that is relevant for both of them.
• Your EzWIC app will show this appointment as a Virtual Nut Ed appointment. Unlike other appointments, WIC staff will not contact you for an appointment on the date and time listed. From the date listed, you will have one week to complete the course(s) before you’re unable to use your benefits.
