SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM
Nutritious Meals for Older Adults in Mohave County
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Mohave County Department of Public Health Senior Nutrition Program supports healthy aging by helping older adults access nutritious meals and maintain independence in their homes and communities.
Access to regular, balanced meals helps reduce food insecurity, support chronic disease management, and improve overall well‑being for older adults across Mohave County.
This program works in partnership with community organizations to ensure residents have access to safe, nutritious food and supportive services.
WAYS TO RECEIVE MEALS
Meals are available in two ways:
- Congregate Meals: Meals served at senior nutrition centers.
- Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels): Meals delivered to eligible homebound residents.
Congregate Meals
Congregate meals are hot lunchtime meals served at senior nutrition centers. These meals support healthy aging while providing opportunities to socialize and connect with others in the community.
Eligibility for Congregate Meals
Congregate meals are available at no cost for individuals who meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
- Age 60 or older
- The spouse of an individual age 60 or older (spouse may be any age)
- Individuals under age 60 who have a disability and live in housing primarily occupied by older adults where congregate nutrition services are offered.
- Individuals under age 60 with a disability who live with an older adult participating in the program.
- Volunteers under age 60 who provide service during meal hours.
Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)
Home delivered meals provide nutritious meals to individuals who are unable to shop for or prepare meals due to health or mobility limitations.
Eligibility for home delivered meals is determined through an assessment conducted by Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) case managers.
Residents may qualify if they meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
- Are 60 years of age or older and have functional limitations preventing them from obtaining or preparing meals at home.
- Are the spouse of an eligible participant, regardless of age.
- Are an individual under age 60 with a disability who resides with an eligible participant.
