The tri-state has been my home for 33 years. As I've said to so many people, we have a tight community that has traditionally been a significant partner with all our schools. To offer the best opportunities for our kids, the community and schools need to work together to help them succeed. Throughout our shared years we have seen ups and downs, but we have worked as partners in education. 

Our budget must be managed in a way that protects the dollars we receive and properly plans for the needs in the future. Our district does not have the luxury of squandering any funds. We should insist on spending dollars closest to the classroom and students.

We should be focused on recruiting, hiring and retaining appropriately certified teachers in their content areas for every classroom. The success of students in the classroom is tied directly to the consistent teachers who are bought in and committed to building, maintaining and growing within the district. How we treat our staff reflects on the district as a whole and we must return to respecting the professionals who perform this sacred task. Also, classroom size must be addressed and a policy to reduce the teacher student ratio must be seriously discussed. Only then can we truly address the proficiency deficits. 

Lastly, parent involvement is the single most important aspect of a student’s educational journey. By creating an atmosphere of partnership in education, the district, students, parents and community can build an unstoppable force of success for every student at CRUHSD. 

I have seen so many amazing students come through our schools. I truly believe the best days for CRUHSD are ahead of us. As I announce my candidacy for Colorado River Union High School District Governing Board, please consider entrusting me with your vote on November 3rd.
