Candidate Statement:

It has been my great privilege to serve on the KUSD school board for the past three and a half years. I have met many amazing individuals in the course of this service. It has been my privilege to get to know Dr. Gretchen Dorner, KUSD school board superintendent, and numerous KUSD teachers and to hear of their plans and goals for their precious students. I truly think that all of us in Kingman, Arizona can truly be proud of the administrators and teaching staff serving the KUSD school board. I also cannot fully describe so many other amazing KUSD employees and contracted staff who provide grounds services, bus services, and food services for the children as well as countless educational opportunities. Finally, I would like to express my appreciation for the current KUSD school board members but especially to the current school board president, Mrs. Toni Henry, who I believe has done a phenomenal job in guiding the KUSD school board in tackling the many issues that we face during the course of the school board meetings. Please let me thank also the many individual members of our community and the many businesses in our community that have made material donations to the KUSD school board to help sustain our provision of educational resources to our students! I grew up in a farmer's family. My grandparents on my father's side had a small farm, a home with no electricity except kerosene lamps, no bathroom but a very nice outhouse, no running water except a hand water pump in their back yard, and sixteen children. One thing they did have, however, was integrity. I believe I have seen a tremendous amount of integrity, selflessness, kindness, and very hard work among the teaching staff and administrators within the KUSD school district and my highest goal is to see the implementation of educational programs and projects for our students that reflect that hard work and integrity for the benefit of our students. As for my own background, I do have a doctorate in International Educational Development and a master's degree in teaching Special Education. I have been a teacher of special education in the State of New York for almost eight years and I have also taught English as a Foreign Language at the University of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and at Peking University in China. Thank you for considering to vote for me for the KUSD school board.
